History
In 1982, the first Great Out Doors Camp out was organized to allow families of recovering alcoholics and addicts an opportunity to experience a weekend of fun and fellowship in sobriety. For many, adults and children alike, this may be their first opportunity to have a fun, happy camping adventure with a family that had previously known only the ravages of active alcoholism and drug addiction. Attendance at this event has swelled to more than 500 people; it has helped many to enjoy a weekend of fun and joy in recovery. Activities include sporting events, talent shows, games for children & teenagers, and recovery meetings. Our organization is founded on the principle of staying sober and helping others-helping them to achieve, maintain and enjoy a life free of the destructive effects of drugs and alcohol.
